Stress and Anxiety Awareness
May 16, 2024 by Nikki and Anne Heart
Although we wrote this post together, we have chosen to present the following through Mom’s eyes.
Awareness of Stress and Anxiety
Everyone experiences some degree of stress in their lifetime. But when your stress becomes overwhelming and interferes with how you live your life, this is referred to as anxiety.
My daughter always experienced stress as any typical teenager would. Some days the stress was worse than others, depending on what was going on in school or her life in general.
However, when she was in college, my daughter’s stress came to a point it was so overwhelming that she no longer could do the things she once did without apprehension or dread.
I was informed by Nikki that her health care provider said she had severe anxiety and advised her to take Benadryl to help her through the severest times.
So, under the direction of her health care provider, my daughter took Benadryl constantly without any thought.
As time went on, I started to realize how much anxiety my daughter was having. Aware of her life changes such as going away to school, it still didn’t make complete sense.
Until one day we realized her extreme anxiety was probably due to the drugs she was being prescribed.
Nonetheless, it became apparent that her overall declining health, including her stress and anxiety, was mainly due to the prescriptions drugs.
Can one treatment cause another problem?
A simple answer is yes it can.
- Certain medication, including mental health medications, may cause anxiety
- Dyes in medication may be the cause of some your mental health problems including anxiety
Important to realize: Not all prescribed treatments are FDA approved for your illness/disorder and are prescribed off-label.
