Symptoms of a Drug Prescription
ORGANIC FOOD
What is organic food?
Organic foods have been grown or farmed without the use of:
- artificial chemicals
- hormones
- antibiotics
- genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
To be labeled organic, a food product must:
- Be free of artifical food additives (i.e. artificial sweeteners, preservatives, coloring, flavoring)
- Animals are not given antibiotics or hormones
How can organic food be important?
If you have sensivities to food additives, chemicals, GMOs, this can be a very important dietary concern.
Unfortunately, you may not be aware of your sensitivities.
Becoming self-aware about your diet is important to your wellbeing
- Take note of how you feel after you eat and drink
- Food and drink sensitivities can be very subtle
- Discuss any reactions you feel you are having with a health care professional
- Do research reguarding the food you eat and drink
The FDA does not regulate the use of the term "organic" on food labels.
- National Organic Program (NOP): the federal regulatory framework governing organically produced crops and livestock.
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) oversees the program and enforces the NOP regulations and standards.
