Mom's Story:
Journey around Prescription Drugs
August 11, 2023 by Nikki and Anne Heart
Although we wrote this post together, we have chosen to present the following story through Mom’s experience.
What isn’t spoken about?
A prescribed drug makes charges to a person physically and/or mentally in hopes of having a positive reaction.
In certain respects, a street drug can be similar to a prescribed drug, because a person most likely takes the drug seeking a positive reaction.
This reaction could be a high their body longs for or relief from the mental or physical pain they can’t get rid of.
My daughter Nikki has openly discussed how the initial reaction to most of the prescribed drugs she was on caused a high, euphoric affect.
Mentioning that at times she was flying so high, she was able to see the world in prismatic details.
At first this feeling helped ease her pain.
Eventually, it became an unnatural feeling with the pain worsening again.
Nikki never did street drugs nor drank unreasonably.
Nevertheless, she began craving a continuous high while being on prescription drugs.
This craving caused Nikki to drink excessively.
Eventually becoming self-aware of what was happening, she was able to fight for sobriety over her cravings.
After withdrawing from prescription drugs, Nikki craved this high more than ever.
This can be hard at times to understand, since most of the time she was extremely unwell while being on prescription drugs.
Nonetheless, her body and mind still craved them and continuously craves for that artificial high.
This drawback of her medication treatment plan was never discussed with Nikki.
I would image like most people, Nikki continues to fight everyday after withdrawing from prescription drugs.
She is aware that her body and mind are no longer the same as they were before the drugs.
Will it ever return back?
We hope so.
