*Although we wrote this post together, we have chosen to present the following through Mom’s eyes.

The need to recognize how our mind and body our linked is extremely important to our well-being.

Unfortunately, with the stigma surrounding mental health, it sometimes is difficult to get the treatment needed.

In fact, poor physical health is a great concern for people with mental illness globablly.

There needs to be a better understanding to bridge the gap between mental and physical illness.

A healthcare provider needs to work directly with other medical professionals to treat the overall picture.

Many times, a healthcare provider doesn’t and this is especially true when mental health is involved.

The risk of heart disease and cancer increases in those who have a mental illness.

But many times,  this is not recognized by healthcare providers.

Research has found a connection between a person’s mental health and physical health.

We need to acknowledge this fact and begin to get the help and support needed.

I have found in my research many informational sites that can shed much-needed light on this subject.

Let’s all join in to bridge the gap.
